SERIOUSLY SMOKIN ASHES fondly known as "Ashes"

Born November 14, 1998 - Died June 6, 2006
Ashes was as close to Lynn, Rebecca and myself, as any relative or friend. She came into our home 7 1/2 years ago and with very few exceptions has rarely been without us.
She came to know every mood, and atmosphere in our home and at the property in Wonewoc. Always willing to share the spotlight with any other hunter and any other dog, just as long as she could come along. Fortunately for her and us, we started to release Pheasants on the property a couple years ago, so Ashes was able to get her fill of birds. I just wish she could have had a few more years.
It is always difficult to lose a friend, but perhaps the most difficult is when you lose a friend before it's time, and I know for a fact, that Ashes was not ready to leave.
While Ashes was doing just fine as a couch potatoe, she was always up for a hunt. Unfortunately, the terrain we hunt in Wonewoc made it difficult for her to hunt as hard as she would have liked. In the last year we had Ashes on a diet that brought her down to 55 pounds, a weight the Vet said was perfect for her. And I have to say, in the last couple of months she was starting to get back that real nice athletic look. I believed the weight reduction would have allowed her to hunt the way she wanted, unfortunately we never had an opportunity to hunt together again.
On the bright side, Ashes never wanted for anything. She always accepted affection and willing gave it back to anyone she met. She was the type of friend, that always seemed to know what I was thinking and rarely did I have to scold her for anything. In fact, if anyone need to be scolded from time to time, it was probably her scolding me.
In the last two years she was able to make friends with many different people and many different dogs. I know she will be missed terribly in my home, as well as be missed by all of her friends.
As time goes on, I will try to improve this Memorial Page, unfortunately at this time, the thoughts are clouded with emotion, making it very difficult to continue.
WE LOVE YOU, ASHES
