FIRST LET ME TELL YOU WHAT
WONEWOC HUNT CLUB IS NOT!

IT IS NOT A BUSINESS!
IT IS NOT A FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATION!
IT IS NOT A MEMBERSHIP CLUB!
IT IS NOT A HIGH FENCE!
IT IS NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
I OWN A COMPANY THAT DESIGNS WEB
SITES. WE CREATED ONE FOR THE
CLUB SO EACH US COULD HAVE ACCESS
TO INFORMATION. AND, SO WE COULD
SHARE OUR OUTDOOR EXPERIENCES
WITH OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
Wonewoc Hunt Club is private property
developed for recreational purposes for a small
group of people who appreciate the value of
having a private piece of property available for
outdoor activities.
I have been hunting since I was a small boy, with
my father, grandfather and uncles. As time
passed, finding nice places to be able to hunt in
Wisconsin, began to erode, leaving us mostly
with access to public hunting grounds. Around 1998
I became frustrated with this option,
and decided to find private property for
me, my family and friends to hunt.
I have always had an interest in Western
Wisconsin as the rolling hills seemed to offer
more challenges as well as additional land.
By additional land, what I actually mean is,
a topo map may show a 100 acre property,
but if you could flatten out
that property it would be more like 150 or 200
acres. At least that is how I see it. So, while our
property is about 360 acres, it seems more like 500 or 600
just because of the undulating topography.
I met a family who owns property between the Wisconsin Dells
area and Tomah. They were willing provide long
term leases and/or sell some of their property to me,
so I went forward with that option in 1998.
Meeting this family has been one of the best
parts of this experience, as we have
develope a great friendship with each other.
OUR BUCK SIZE RULE USED TO BE..........
YOU COULD SHOOT A BUCK OF ANY SIZE, AS LONG AS THE
RACK IS BEYOND THE WIDTH OF THE EARS, AND IF IT WAS
NOT YOU WOULD HAVE TO CONTRIBUTE $500.00 TO THE
CLUB KITTY. THIS INCLUDED A BUTTON BUCKS.
THE EXCEPTION TO THAT RULE WAS IF YOU WERE ONE OF
THE KIDS OR IF YOU FOUND YOURSELF HAVINGTO TAKE A
WOUNDED DEER THAT SOMEONE ELSE SHOT.
THE ABOVE RULE STILL EXISTS, HOWEVER I HAVE MODIFIED
IT TO ACCOMMODATE A FEW THINGS.
THERE ARE TIMES WHEN YOU MIGHT FIND A QUALITY DEER
WITH A HIGH RACK NOT A WIDE RACK. AND THERE ARE
TIMES WHEN HARVESTING A SMALLER DEER MIGHT BE THE
RIGHT THING TO DO.
SO, THE MODIFIED RULE, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE IS:
If you are one of the "Club Partners" Full or Social, and you have never
shot a buck at Wonewoc Hunt Club, regardless of your age, you are
welcome to shoot any buck you wish.
If you are 21 or over and are one of the Club Partners, or and immediate
family member and have shot a buck at Wonewoc Hunt Club or if you
are a guest of one of the Club Partners, you can only shoot a buck that
has a minimum of 4 points on at least one side of it's rack.
I have several food plots on the property, 2
small ponds and one large pond stocked
with Bass and Crappie.
We have 3-D archery targets, a 50, 100,
150 yard riffle range and trap shooting to
sharpen your skills.
There are about 11 miles of trails cut into
the property to allow easy access to the
entire property, as well as offer great
hiking, biking, or ATV access.
I enjoy all types of hunting, but in the last
15 years my real interest has become bow
hunting for deer. At first I did not pay
much attention to managing the deer herd
for trophies, as I was just happy to have a
private piece of property I could call mine.
However it did not take me long to realize
the potential this property had. For the
last 10 years we have practiced a type of
quality deer management with the hope
of developing a trophy buck area. By
harvesting bucks with antlers the width of
their ears and greater, while at the same
time taking nice adult doe off the property.
It is common to have opportunities at 150 class deer
but we are really working toward those 160 to 170 classes.
